Uplands Retail is committed to maintaining its first
class health and safety performance by continuing
to raise the understanding and profile of Health
& Safety within the business by providing training
and development for its staff.
Uplands Retail is a member of the CITB and all of
our project managers and site managers have completed
the CITB 5 day site management safety training course
and hold the HSE approved 4 day first aid at work
certificate. All staff receive recognised Health
& Safety training appropriate to the nature
of their work, which includes asbestos awareness,
manual handling, risk assessment and construction
operative Health & Safety awareness training.
The company employs the services of an in house
Health & Safety manager to implement and maintain
a Health & Safety management system sufficient
for the companies activities, and to ensure that
adequate Health & Safety resources and advice
is provided to the directors and senior managers
on the provision of an effective Health & Safety
management system for the company.
The building safety group and an external safety
consultant are employed as external advisory bodies
to provide advice, monitoring, inspection and audit
services. Two directors alongside two other members
of senior management sit on a safety committee on
a monthly basis to review safety procedures and
performance. Internal audits are also carried out
which are used to monitor and record performance
and act as indicators to any changes required in
procedure.
